First off I must say that I appreciate the effort this community puts forth to give life changing advice to its members. We all take others advice with a grain of salt and I to am often sceptical when it comes to others telling me how to manage my life.
It has thus taken me along time to figure out what I am doing with my life while trying to make a life worth living. No money does not buy happiness but neither does poverty.
Due to what I've read in this community over and over again I set out to make a change. I saw a path to bettering my life in a significant way that you all showed me.
As of yesterday I was an hourly employee experiencing issues making ends meet. Today I was offered a raise of 20k a year and for the first time with my employer proper benefits. This came as a result after months of job searching with the sheer intent of proving my worth to my employer.
Job offers abounded and each had their merits. Most similar at an income level above mine prior and each with their own benefits package. After informing my current employer of my search chatter between me and them came to a halt. I could sense the overwhelming fear that I would actually leave my post.
I let this tension build for weeks until I knew it was time for a release. A couple days ago I informed my employer of my intention to stick with it and continue in my role as it became apparent that my division would falter without me and yesterday that information bore fruit. My employer immediately set forth to create a new title for me. One with a massive pay increase as well as all of the benefits offered elsewhere. This new-old role comes with minor increases to responsibility, ones which I was slated to take over anyways.
I received that offer just a few hours ago and had to let someone know this one thing.... I won and it feels good.
