Hi All! I am trying to plan a trip between now and September, to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, to see My Dad. He is 85, and not doing the best. It would be Myself, My Husband, and Our three daughters, ages 16, 10, and 7. We will have to start budgeting for this asap, and I want to get there the most cost efficient way possible... Any pointers? I need all the help that I can get. Should we fly? Should we drive? A little background- we would have to rent a car from LV airport to Lake Havasu, and then once we are there we have My dad's car to use. There's 5 of us, so we should probably stay in an airbnb or something... We will then need a car to go from Lake Havasu back to LV to fly out- IF we fly...
ANOTHER option that we have, is just for Myself and My husband to go, to try to convince my father to move home, and we would drive him back. If that plan doesn't work, we won't be able to afford another trip out with the kids. I've been so upset for the last two years, trying to figure something out... I just don't know what to do.
We aren't in the best financial situation right now (just finished a two year court fight against ex husband for being negligent w our kids- so big $$$ lawyer bill), but My dad can't fly due to blood clot issues in his legs. I feel so helpless. I just want My kids to see My dad before he passes away. My heart is breaking. It's even worse because we cannot speak on the phone, as he is extremely hearing impaired... Any and all budget travel tips that would help us out- are immensely appreciated. TIA
