Background info: My husband and I have been trying to find a company or builder for the past year and have yet to find one within budget. We already own 2 acres of land and will be paying for tree removal and grading with a separate company. We want a 3 bedroom/2 bathroom turn key but will settle for a 2/2 if necessary. Our ideal budget is under $100k but we would be content with a home up to $130k. Square footage, at least 1200. We have looked into mobile homes, modular homes, and several stick built companies but have yet to be satisfied with any. Time isn't an issue because we are living with his parents, but we'd like to get the ball rolling because our daughter will be born in July. Questions: are our budget and expectations too high? Or are we just not finding a good company to go through with? Any suggestions for how to find a decent company? We've talked to about 15 companies at this point and I'm starting to get frustrated and feel like what we want may not be reasonable. I don't know where to go next.
