Hello, long time lurker first time poster.

I live in Canada (BC) and I'm currently paying $124 dollars to take a bus and skytrain to work. They just installed an extension to the skytrain that's beside my house. I'm trying to save money and I'm stumped if paying an extra $36 or so per month is worth the time savings.

Here are my commute times and costs:

$124 pass - In the morning, I can get to work in about 42 to 45 minutes. I can get back home in about 50 to 55 minutes if everything aligns. I add in an extra $10 cash per month in case I miss the bus -- so I take the skytrain which costs $1.50 per trip. $10 is enough to last me the month. On the weekends I get unlimited access to the skytrains -- no bus needed. total: $134 dollars

$170 pass - I can get to and from work in 38 to 40 minutes by skipping the bus and taking the skytrain only. I don't need to run to catch the bus...

So the difference is $36 dollars per month to save about 10 to 15 minutes per day. Do you guys think that's worth it? I'm not sure if this is borderline frugal or just being plain old cheap. Any advice is appreciated.
