I know this sub is flooded with work boot requests, but I was looking for some different opinions/perspectives.
I work at a nuclear power plant as an environmental/hazardous waste specialist. I routinely work with waste oil/paint/solvents/chemicals etc. I am reluctant to spend more money on an expensive pair of boots, but I just tore through a pair of wolverine work boots in about 9 months that I spent 140$ on.
I like to have a hard toe on my boot, but there is a metal detector at the entrance to the plant and it is too inconvenient to take my boots on and off. Therefore a composite toe is ideal for me.
I like about a 6 inch boot, non-insulated, waterproof and somewhat light weight/walking friendly as I do a lot of walking. I usually walk about 4 to 10 miles on a normal work day on hard surfaces.
I have been looking at some of red wing's boots, most that fit my needs are made in China, and seem like they would fall apart quick. Working with a budget up to 300 dollars if you think they would last a few years.
Any suggestions? Thanks
