Not sure if this is the right way to ask because I really don't know how to explain it in a short way:
Basically, I've set up a budget. This budget allows for my wife and I to spend about $900 per month each. The problem is, we're both very scatterbrained and impulsive and it's hard for us to manage this budget.
Ideally, I'd like to have a sort of account in which I deposit our monthly budget each month, and we use debit cards that uses this account. The problem is, the cards absolutely need to be DENIED for purchases when the account is empty. Unfortunately, my bank (wells fargo) does not do this; they are more than happy to just throw up a ton of overdraft fees instead of preventing withdrawal.
Is there a way to do what I'm wanting? At first I thought that I could use pre-paid debit cards, but it looks like those have fees for loading / monthly fees, and even charge overdraft fees.
