This just happended. Here's a little backstory. There were some workers replacing the roofing at my girlfriend's house and they messed up the satellite dish when working. My gf noticed that her cable wasn't working so we called DirectTV to fix the issue. They sent a tech out this morning to fix the satellite.
While checking out the issues on the receiver, he went behind the TV to move some cables. My girlfriend keeps a jar with some cash in it back there, and I think he noticed this and assumed he could scam me.
After fixing the satellite, he asked for payment, and I offered to use my card. He said he can't take cards, and that the way the techs get paid is by cash when the job is done. These were huge red flags but I just wanted to fix my girlfriend's TV. I knew I shouldn't have paid him.
We called customer service and told them the situation. Cash traded hands, no way to pay with a card, and no receipt was given or offered. They called the tech, and of course he denied it. They said they would start an investigation. What do we do at this point?
