I have a a small storage room that i use as a mini lab. Some of the chemicals i work with attack vinyl and make it a bitch to clean up if there's any spillages. I have some wooden laminate flooring laying around from previous work in the house. I wanted to lay the laminate flooring on top of the vinyl.Watched a couple videos where it is suggested to be completely fine but then i look at the comments and they mention stuff like "He's an amateur"So what's the general consensus? If it's fine, do i need underlay?I've laid laminate before and i would've thought it's fine but here's some details about the conditions of the room. Its a small storage room that currently has vinyl flooring that looks to be a couple years old. It's still flat but the room is cold and has no radiators in there. This room is just adjacent to my entrance hallway. It has one tiny window that doesn't provide much light. And has my boiler, gas and electric meters in there. Due to the annoying setup of these pipes i will only be laying skirting and beading on the visible sides of the room, avoiding the areas around the gas meter. Will doing this affect moisture conditions or promote damp? If so i don't mind making jigsaw pieces to go around the gas meter, it's just a pain.I already have a threshold strip on the doorway to this room from the other laminate flooring in my hallway. I believe this one is fine to use again if i don't use underlay. With underlay i will likely need to get a new threshold strip to suit both sides.I've tried to provide all the relevant information along with, possibly, irrelevant details just in case. Let me know if there are key details i've overlooked. And advice would be appreciated, many thanks. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2nmnwdZ
