We were about to cancel our Costco Executive card (at $110) and go to the regular card ($55), but just received semi-annual statement for car insurance from Ameriprise and found out we get a $80 per six month discount on car insurance.
It seems like a good deal, more than break even and there are other perks for the executive card we haven't yet used, like free roadside assistance and coverage for broken windows in home.
To us, Costco is like Netflix. It's something that we don't use a lot, but there's always something that makes it worthwhile. There are about a dozen items (organic meats, roasted chickens, bulk other stuff) that we purchase regularly.
