I'm super proud of a recent purchase. It was an expensive item, bought at an outlet store. It was already steeply discounted, and I decided to buy it as it was very good quality (149$ discounted to 59$).

I then noticed that a button had come loose, but was duct taped to the label. I walked over to a sales person and asked if a defective item could get a discount. He discounted it to 39$ and slapped an orange sticker on it with the new price.

At the checkout, I asked the lady if I could get any further discount. She took a minute on the computer and said that the last of each piece gets a discount, making it 15$. And then she said they were having a "friends and family sale" so I should give her my email and get a further 20% off. I walked away with a 12$ sweater :)

It just goes to show, there is nothing to lose by nicely asking if it is possible to find a discount!
