I'm an investor with a stable growth/value 401k and a separate speculative brokerage account. This is about speculative account.

Over the past couple of years I've done pretty well with 10-15 stocks I know and understand, usually buying options calls and puts but on occasion buying stock outright.

In the past 60 days I've seen mostly modest growth with modest resistance in my stocks I follow closely. No big gains or losses, mainly minor breakouts upwards unrelated to outside indicators as best I can tell.

In this market where a lot of socks are trading at or near their 52wk high, what should I look for to find a flyer or two amongst the pack.

401k is happy with overall bull, but looking for short term opportunities for big moves covered, or modest moves with derivatives.

I'm pretty big in applied tech and tech retail, keep an eye on energy, and a minor eye in transportation.

Thanks!
