Today I replaced the earpads on my Sennheiser 650s that I think I bought in 2008. The old pads were gross, worn out and filled with holes after years of daily usage. A $20 replacement made them feel brand new again. I smiled, looked at my 4 year old and said.... these headphones are older than you are!
I immediately thought of this sub. When I originally bought the cans people thought I was mad for paying $400 for headphones. Same for the usb dac / amp that powers it a decade later. Not only has it kept me from buying new gear every year the quality leap is immense.
Buy it for life, but also buy timeless products that will still be sold in 10 years. Having acces to cheap replacement parts and aftermarket communities is a giant plus.
