About 2 months ago, ties.com had a end-of-year sale. It was out on this subreddit, so I jumped on it.
What constitutes a good tie: Normally Bulgari ties are, in my opinion, the best because of their 7-fold construction. They use super-fine silk and the tie drapes very well. But they have prices that match and not very frugal.
How ties.com compare: The first problem, the silk is definitely thicker. Considering the price, this is not a big deal. But the bigger problem is that the inside lining is even thicker and a far bigger issue. The tie is very very thick because of the cheap lining used. It will show through your collar. I had problems even sticking it under my collar properly.
The four-in-hand knot will look like a half-Windsor. And forget about using the half-Windsor as it will be even bigger than a full Windsor. The Cheap thick lining ends up making the "ok" silk look like cheap polyester.
It's only a pity the the tie falls flat only because of the lining. Otherwise it gets a pass. Even took it to my tailor and he even said that the lining was crap.
