Reliable and ~30mpg for under $4,500 in California... lets talk about used cars! (again) alternatives to civics and corollas?

So, of course civics and corollas will be the first answer to my problem

So.... i dont want an older civic, 2000 is good however, but id need the timing belt change. used to own a 90s civic, i think i want a 2004-2007 corolla
