Friend went to Dave and Busters tonight. She noticed that the suggested tips were wrong — a couple of dollars higher than advertised. It took us awhile to figure out but it turns out if the waiter “accidentally” adds something to your bill and takes it off they still include the removed item for the suggested tip.
I imagine this is so the waiter doesn’t lose funds when you use a promotion, etc. But a manipulative waiter could add an item and then remove it and hope you go off the tipping suggestion on the bottom with a newly inflated number.
I’m guessing tonight’s was a unintentional accident, but pay attention.
