When my son was born, a medical supply company let us use one of their devices. It was biliblanket. It was covered by the insurance except for his deductible.
I get a bill for around $268.00. They called me for payment. I asked them if the bill was negotiable. I was informed that they would need to check with their supervisor and call me back.
About 5 minutes later they call back. The lady on the phone said that since this bill was from my deductible, the max discount they could give me would be 10%.
I was planning on paying the full amount anyways and figured I'd try to negotiate anything. If it saved me any money... great.
I was just wondering if they was normal? Is there less room to negotiate when the bill is from your deductible? Or was this just some standard response they give to prevent people from getting bigger discounts on their medical bills?
