Included below are pictures clarifying the fit, where I'm having discomfort, as well as showing the flex points.
TL;DR: Got new IR's. Boots irritate the top of my foot, the flex points pinch my toes, and the heal is loose. Is there anything I can do about this, or are these just not going to work?
Alright, so I recently got some Red Wing IR's 8119 Oxblood. Normally I wear a size 8 but with my orthotics, they were WAY too small. 8.5's and 9's didn't work, either.
Lo and behold there was a President's Day sale online and they had 9.5's that were being sold for 100 bucks off and offered free returns, so I thought "fuck it, I'll try another size up".
They just came in the mail and I've been walking around in them, and while they are definitely the most comfortable fit so far, they are still pretty uncomfortable. I wanted to know if this had to do with the fit OR them not being broken in...
1) The heels are loose
My heels lift up and slip out a good amount. I have to tie the boots really tight to manage this, and they still lift up even when tied tight. That said, it's tolerable - it's not that uncomfortable or irritating, so far, anyway. If this was the only problem I'd definitely be able to live with them but...
2) Pinching of toes at the flex point
As I am walking, my toes - especially on the right foot - get pinched at the flex point. If this doesn't change I think I'll just have to return/sell them.
3) Irritation on top of my left foot.
This one is also pretty bad. This part of the boot hurts my inner arch and big toe mound, especially the faster/harder I walk. Also, where I am pointing is where my big toe is, to give you an idea of the length.
