I am installing 5 gallon bucket in the basement floor. It serves as a sump pump hole, and my radon mitigation hole. (Yes, I know I should get a professional to deal with radon, save it). I have a wooden cover for the 5 galling bucket, flush with the concrete. The problem is that I have a 1" by 2" hole in the wooden cover which the power and the drain for the sump pump exit through. The hole is on the outside edge of my wood cover. My radon mitigation pipe also comes out the wood top, and that is sealed well. So I turn on my radon fan and it pulls air through the sump pump hole, which obviously doesn't work, it needs to have an air tight seal. (The picture shows some rubber I have in there now) I have been "sealing" it with duct tape. The duct tape works - I have done 2 radon tests with the duct tape sealing the hole and they came out good. The specific part of this project that I am working on now is sealing that hole. It needs to be non-permanent, as I might need to service the sump pump. How would you do this? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2msfv4q
