I am in Sweden staying with my wife. She has a bank account we can transfer to. Previously my bank had under 1% foreign transaction but they have increased and it is no longer the best option.
I have sent her paypal from my bank and from what I can tell on my end there was no fee other than paypals at around $2.50.
I looked at transferwise and currencyfair both have cheap fees, however I do not know if my bank will stack a charge on like some places do with a wire transfer.
Does anyone have experience transferring 500$ -1000 or so chunks of cash from a us bank to a country? Whats the best method?
