Looking for jobs daily I stumble upon unrealistic advertisements where employers want to get some kind of super-humanoid capable of doing the impossible. I copied this quote directly from an advertisement about a photography position:
... Ideally, you're a creative genius with a killer portfolio who is: creative-obsessed, solution-focused, creatively-versatile, a bit of a foodie, a little bit filmy and very on-trend. You have great organisational and time management skills with the ability to multitask with efficiency. You'll also know how to collaborate with and motivate while hitting deadlines...
Creative genius? Killer portfolio? Creative obsessed?? Holy shit.. I realize that this is just a rant, but it makes me feel like there is something inherently wrong with society and its expectations nowadays. And I do also understand that the creative industries are ruthless, that is why I don't do creative works anymore. The market killed my passion and my love for photography, and it made me look for simpler ways to work in life. In a sense, I should thank it.
I'd like to hear your opinions about it.
