My brother's issues go a ways back. Family problems and a sensitive disposition resulted in a man that can't hold a job, doesn't pay child support, has spent some time in a jail cell, and doesn't have a place to rest his head as a result.
I know for a fact that he has been diagnosed with PTSD, possibly some kind of depression, and possibly some kind of anxiety disorder. He's displayed very paranoid behavior ranging from wearing a tinfoil hat in his bathtub to avoid "government signals" to telling me that his coworkers at one of his former jobs were out to get him.
First and foremost he needs help with his mental issues, so my question is this - is there anything i can do to help him? I'm two years into my post-college career, living with a roommate in a small two bedroom apartment so putting him up on my couch really isn't an option.
- Are there any kind of government assistance programs he might apply for?
- Is there any way i can get him help with his mental issues short of putting him up or giving him cash? I have an HSA account with a reasonable sum of cash, would i be able to use that to get him into some kind of therapy session, or pay for medication he can't afford?
My brother hasn't always been this way - In happier days he was an individual full of energy and love. I'm genuinely concerned he may end up dead one day as a result of his problems. Any advice would be sincerely appreciated appreciated.
