I am an international student [20/M] studying in US colleges. This year, I am lucky enough to get an opportunity to work as an intern in a US corporation for 9 months.

I have been reading a lot about investing / finance / saving in general and I see that most of them are tailored for a US citizen living in the US.

With my current job and earnings, I would like to start to learn how to invest. However, I find little to none information about my specific case in which I am a non-citizen who works in the US.

What would be the best way to start investing for me? With my current situation, am I eligible to invest in the US? If so, how should I start? Let's say I want to put in $500 per month into the Dow Jones indices (good idea?), how can I do it? Let's say that I will not be living in the US in 20 years and I want to claim my asset by then, what will be the process to do it? Is the fact that I am a non-citizen will complicate things? I am quite lost right now.

What about retirement accounts like 401k? I heard a lot of good things about those plan, but I believe that it is a retirement account for US citizen. Am I eligible to put my money there? Is there any reason for me to do so?
