Hi all,
My family has been in a really bad situation for awhile now. I'll try to keep this as short as possible, but it's a lot.
Im 18. I live with my mom who works a full time job, and my brother who is 28 and has never had a job.
She makes about 1200 a month and I make about 600. Im currently looking for a second job or a full time job, and have been for a month now.
So in total we make about 1800 a month.
Here's a breakdown of our bills:
Rent: 750
AT&T (with 10% discount) 140
Utilities about 100
Storage unit (got evicted from a two story three bedroom house into a small ass two bedroom apartment. My mom refuses to throw anything in the storage away) 120
Internet 100
Auto insurance 40
Mom spends 100 on gas a month
40 on laundry a month as there's only a laundry mat to go to
So this leaves us about 400 to spend on things such as the occasional taxi I take to work (usually I can get a ride) and apparently we're spending 400 a month on food.
In my opinion, that's ridiculous but my mom thinks it's fine to spend so much. She says it's normal and there's no way to cut that down. We eat out once a paycheck, and cook the rest.
I know of some solutions but all of them have problems.
We could move to somewhere cheaper in rent, but we can't save up for a moving vehicle and can't save up for first month's last month's rent.
My brother could get a job, but my mom thinks it's okay that he doesn't work
We could just sell everything in the storage unit, but my mom doesn't want to sell anything
Every paycheck I try and put something in my savings account but I always end up taking it out. I can't even afford to get mcdonalds.
Im so frustrated because I can't live my life. Im being forced into getting two jobs. I should be in college but if I leave they get evicted. I should have my own car but I can't afford a monthly payment.
I need some serious help. Thank you if you read all this
