I thought I would share a frugal recipe I make. The most frugal aspect of it is sausage. But here it is.
I buy sausage in casing on sale, usually hot italian.
I boil it and pierce it after a number of minutes (be careful here as hot oil can squirt out).
I then slice it into medallions (circles, basically). I can then freeze these bags at this point for later quick use or make my dish.
I make pasta then fry the medallions, adding romano beans if I feel like it and any vegetables I want, frozen italian mix is a good one.
I add any spices I like (red pepper, salt, etc.)
Then I mix everything together.
For me, the best thing about this is that it is a very very quick meal when I get home if I grab the pre-boiled sausage packs from the freezer.
