I left the company in 2013, and every year they mail a W-2 indicating $0 in annual salary to my old address. I don't even live there anymore. The only reason why I even know this is happening is that my old roommate still lives at my former address. As long as she continues to live there, at least I can be grateful my SSN isn't falling into the hands of some rando. But obviously I can't rely on her never moving for the rest of her life.

First of all: Is this even normal for a company to do? As far as I can tell, the company is perfectly happy to send me a W-2 every year forever. I've tried calling and emailing their HR department, and the response I've gotten is more or less, "We're aware of this problem and we'll fix it as soon as possible," which I take to mean "This isn't a big enough problem for us to care about."

How can I get them to stop? Who can I even go to if their HR department isn't willing to do anything? Has anyone else gone through something similar before? Any advice would be REALLY appreciated.
