So I opened a Secure Credit Card with Capital One. In the middle of 2016 Houston, TX experienced severe flooding so I was out of work for about 2 weeks. I had to put some bills on this credit card bumping up the credit card utilization to around 95%. Now I have never missed a single payment on this card. I have paid either on time or even early some months and always above the minimum requirement. I logged onto Credit Karma today and noticed that for some reason it said Capital One has sold this debt to a collection agency. The weird thing is that the card and account are still active. I made a payment on the card a few weeks after the date CreditKarma is giving for the sale of the debt. MY question is why would they sell the debt to a company when I was making payments on the card and its still active? What route should I take to clear this up with Capital One? Any help or advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!
