For most of my life I have payed either by cash or debit card. The thinking was "I will never be at risk for credit card debt if I don't use one". I have since been encouraged to use a credit card on a regular basis to strengthen my credit score, to build a credit line, and to get rewards for what I'm spending. It's really the rewards I'm concerned about. I signed up for a rewards card which focuses on cash back for gas payments, because I drive a TON and a large percentage of my expenses are for gas. I'm now wondering if this was a poor move. I get 3% cash back on whatever I spend on gas, however... most gas stations offer like 10cents less if you pay by cash inside. Wouldn't it make more sense for me to just go inside and pay cash? What do you guys think about cash rewards for gas? Is there another style of rewards card that you think is more valuable? Note: I do not travel so air miles are irrelevant to me
