Hello!
So first off, I have never had an issue with a merchant before, always pay my bills on time, and my credit score is over 800 (not sure if this affects your odds of success with VISA charge-backs).
My friends and I bought tickets to a club for new years in Montreal this year - "VIP open bar" they claimed. The tickets stated that the doors would open at 10pm.
We show up at the club at 10:00pm, and there is a MOB of people in front of the club on one side of the entrance, and a line wrapping around an entire block on the other side. We join the mob (we were told the line was for people without tickets), and have a clear view of the entrance and bouncers.
From 10pm until about 11:50pm (when we left, due to the cold), nobody in the "mob" or line was allowed entrance... only very few groups of women only were allowed in (completely cutting the lines), and maybe 15 or so people during this time who had purchased "VIP Tables" inside the club. There were even people among us outside who had paid an additional 25 dollars for "line pass" tickets, and they were not getting in either. They literally received the same treatment as everyone else.
Does this not qualify as a scam? We clearly (as well as MANY others) did not get the service we were promised when purchasing the $60+ each tickets. There is ample proof of this in the current reviews on their Facebook page.
I contacted the ticket broker, and after a few weeks, they finally got back to me, and say that the promoter is offering me a $20 partial refund on each ticket... a less-than 30% refund. I want a full refund, as I was fully ripped off by whoever dropped the ball in mismanaging this event.
Do I have a good case at this point to file a charge-back claim with VISA? It has only been 20 days since the event, and about 30 since the tickets were purchased.
Thanks in advance!
