Given the massive amount of time, resources, and computing power available to some people (and not to your average trader), I have trouble thinking that getting into this field will ever work out for a layman like me. All of the good, "simple" algorithms have been discovered already and won't work anymore.
Has anyone here struck gold and found something that works for them? Obviously you don't need to disclose your strategy, but I'm curious to see how prevalent success is.
