I bought my first home a few weeks ago, and spent the last couple of weeks renovating and moving in.

Initially, I wanted to buy a duplex so that I could live in one unit and rent out the other, but with my budget I was only able to get a townhouse, but it was on a great deal (sellers were desperate to move).

I have 5 bedrooms, a bathroom and a powder room. Would it be feasible/possible to rent out 1-2 of the spare rooms I have upstairs?

Since I would be living here too, I was thinking about getting "roommates" as tenants. We'd share the same front door, bathroom, and living space/kitchen.

My questions are:

- Would people actually pay rent to live in a house that is currently occupied, and basically be a roommate who shares the living spaces and bathroom (but getting their own room)?

- If so, how would this be advertised?
