I’ll try to keep it as short and to the point as possible.
Im 28 years old, and I’m 20 months clean. My last few years of active addiction were spent burning my life to the ground. I stopped paying literally everything.
Two days ago, I was told a sheriff is looking for me to serve me for a debt collector demanding $9K from me.
I spoke with a lawyer and went over my debts with him, and I have $35k in credit cards and loans. I haven’t paid anything on these in over three years. Somehow my credit is still 650, and I don’t have any judgments…yet.
After taxes, I bring in almost $60k a year from a job I have had for nine months. I currently have over 8k in my account after paying rent and living fairy frivolously. I don’t have children and am not married.
Idk if this is enough info or not, but with that said, do you think I should do bankruptcy or should I tackle this situation I have created for myself in a different way?
My lawyer, sponsor, and father all feel like bankruptcy is my best bet at a fresh start financially.
