My roommate and I are having a debate. We both consider ourselves to be frugal but we can have vastly different opinions on what being frugal looks like. I am currently saving up some money to get myself a nice pair of boots for everyday wear. I’ve done some research and I’m looking at paying around $300 for a pair that I can get re-soled and will hopefully last me close to the rest of my life. My roommate is telling me that this is a stupid move and frugal people should buy shoes that cost less than $100 because anything more is just extravagant/ unnecessary and not worth it. Neither of us have much money right now but I figure that I will save money in the long run, right? I’m still pretty young so I’m trying to figure out the best way to set myself up for a frugal future.

Edit:I am mainly looking for a comfortable boot for everyday wear. I generally prefer the feel/ look of boots over sneakers. I am in school to be a nurse so they would not be for work. I would love some boot recommendations if anyone has any! I'm really looking for something that will last a long time, be sustainable, and comfortable.
