Ok, this might sound funny. I'm 27 and I have a paid off house (starter home) in South Texas. It's worth about 170k and I could probably rent it out for $1200 minus expenses. (People here are notorious for not taking care of their property hence why I've been reluctant to rent it out).
Anyway, I want to move to an actual, livable, desirable place where I can enjoy nature, seasons, and basically another culture. I was thinking Washington, Oregon, Wyoming, Idaho, Colorado or Montana.
Nonetheless, I know I can't afford a house up there, especially with the current market. Our jobs are pretty basic (nothing fancy like engineering, healthcare, finance or trades). We bring home $60k a year.
I was thinking of maybe selling our home and buying a camper, that way we have a place to live in a place we actually want to live.
It sounds pretty counterintuitive but I just don't know! In one hand I'm happy to have a paid off house at a young age, on the other it sucks living here and paying 3.5k in property taxes over such a small property.
