A friend of mine has a lot of money, has a business in the Philippines. He pays himself, from the business, $280K per year. His wife works for the business part time at $36K per year. He says, "that's a pretty large salary for the Philippines." He pays his wife's brother, still in college, $30K per year for part time work. He says, "that's a lot of money for the Philippines."
He told me he wants me to move from TX to work in the Philippines. He said, "I'll pay you just a little bit, but you'll have benefits, and there will be a bed and shower at the office so you don't have to have an apartment. You can eat at the cafeteria in the building, and there's a store downstairs where you can buy whatever else you need. You won't need a car because everything will be right there for you."
He wants to pay me less than his still in college BIL, who works very part time. For that, he wants me to move to a different country, be a slave at his company - live at the office, be at work 24/7, 365. He says in the evenings I will come to his place for dinner and business meetings. He says, "this will be life changing for you."
Boy, hold me back! Why would I want to pass that up? It sure will be life changing. I'll go from self employed earning good money in America to working for slave wages for 100+ hour work weeks. Sounds great!
Frugal doesn't mean be a sucker.
