Hi folks -
My son and I were at a red light, and our car was rear-ended by an unloaded tractor trailer. My son is unscathed. However, the tail end of our Mazda CX-5 is caved in, and I feel a dull ache in my back and kidneys. I've recently had some back problems requiring PT, so it may be related. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow to get checked out.
I have a police report number and the other driver's license, insurance, and registration. I also have some relatively crummy pictures of the truck. The other driver is desperate to keep insurance out, but we're going to file.
This is my first accident, and I'd love some advice:
- Should I go through my insurance or his?
- What should I expect from his insurance?
- With the car market as is, what kind of auto settlement should I expect?
- What should I do about potential injury related issues?
How do I make sure that I'm not screwed by this situation?
Many thanks in advance!
