Hello Frugal friends, I got prescribed eyeglasses a few years ago, but I was dumb and didn't use them at all and now my prescription has of course worsened.
I moved to a new country (Sweden) and thought about just bringing my old eyeglasses to the store so that they can just change the glasses... but everyone is telling me I have to buy new frames??
The old ones are basically unused, and people are telling me I have to just throw them away because no store will reuse them? Is this true?
I was stupid with my money back then and I paid 400€ for pretty frames (...and yes, never used them)
Is this a normal practice everywhere? Is there any online service I can just send my frames + prescription to, and they will change the glasses for me?
I'll use this post to also note that I find anything eyeglasses related really overpriced... like, it's just two pieces of glass with a metal frame, what's the manufacturing cost, a few cents? The profit margins for manufacturers must be huge.
