Owned these funds since 2013, 2016, and 2019, respectively. $23,000 in total. Didn’t realize how much you get taxed from the capital gains distributions. Looking back, they have outperformed the spx most years but having to pay taxes on the distributions really eats into the returns and messes up the cost basis so it seems like it would be pretty complicated to calculate my real rate if return versus if I had just invested in VOO. I’m thinking of selling them all and putting 100% of the proceeds into VOO. Good or bad idea? If it’s a good idea, should I just do it immediately or wait until the end of the year? If these funds were in a Roth I would hang onto them most likely. But getting hammered in taxes every year is not a good feeling, especially when they have been underperforming VOO over the last year or so
