We use washing soda and borax, purchased for 5 bucks each at canadian tire, instead of laundry detergent. It makes so much, the big jar we have it in has lasted us over a year. For $10 dollars.

It is a minimal detergent, so no scents or wax to smooth frizzels and so on, but if you dont care about that, its amazing.

Any other bulk chemicals to replace brand name ones?

A lot of my toiletries got cheap when I switched to bar soap and offbrand anti-dandruff shampoo. I would like to make my own bar soap in future. Not sure if there is a replacement for the anti-dandruff, although its basically just zinc pyrithione. Maybe someone sells a bar soap version of that.

Anyway, a lot of this is just not buying it premixed with water in a on-brand jug. Anyone else have any suggestions in this sort of space?
