So I noticed I tip too much (20% or more). I’ve always heard the standard was 15% for a good job, but if it’s exceptional service I tend to tip more (which I don’t find a lot lately, but I tip as if I do). The frugal thing is not to eat out so much, as that's where I tip the most, but I do enjoy it and budget it accordingly.

My questions to y’all are:

  • How much do you usually tip/what percentage and is it constant? What's your rule?

  • What kind of services do you usually tip for that aren’t restaurants (nail salons, groomer, movers, etc) and how much/what percentage?

  • Do you tip when you are getting carry out/take away and there’s the tip option on the receipt? My SIL says you should tip at least $1, but I don't know if I agree with that. What do you do?
