Especially if you live somewhere mildly urban, you might be surprised how easy and inexpensive getting around on an ebike is. It's basically like cycling, except pedal assist makes hills a non-issue and optional throttle controls mean you can cruise at 20mph, making mingling with traffic less scary.

Obviously in North America with such car centric infastructure you are taking a safety risk, and if places you frequent are further than a 20 mile range with no viable public transit you're kinda stuck with the car. Still, paying 1 grand for the bike, never paying for gas, insurance, and only limited maintenance you can usually figure out on your own is a great deal.

You can generally fit like 3 bags of groceries on your bike with front and rear racks, so even though grocery trips need to be more frequent it's not too bad. Also biking is way more fun than driving, keeps you more fit, and the carbon cost of manufacturing and using an e bike is orders of magnitude lower than even an electric car. Just make sure you don't cheap out on the bike lock ;)
