~ Burner account so I can use real numbers and feel less anxiety ~
I am a creative producer in a HCOL. My current role, has an average salary of ~76k. I am at ~72k and beyond ready to advance. My market is not the place.
I have started interviewing for creative producer roles in Los Angeles since the average salary is 80k and cost of living is virtually the same. I just finished my 3rd interview, and was told I am on to the 4th and final interview stage of the process. I officially entered the “what is your expected pay rage?” question.
To push them off I asked for the official job description/title and said I would base it off that.
The official title they gave me is Creative resource manager. The job description is almost identical to what I currently do as creative producer plus some.
Here’s where it gets weird, average salary is like… 70k for this job because (from the data I can see) it is not a common title, or it’s underpaid.
My plan was to come in at around 85k and settle around 80k.
My worry is they are going to low ball me with this title.
This company is very established and working with all the major movie studios so they know they are hiring for a producer position… It feels so weird that this is the title.
I dont really know what to propose for a salary and I need to get back to them tomorrow.
What would y’all do? Love the opportunity but can’t make a lateral move.
Should I just say screw it and tell them around 85k? Do titles matter that much? Do I come back and ask what their range is?
If you can’t tell I’m anxious. Thanks!
