I just started the cash envelope system for today's paycheck. I have issues with overspending and impulse buys. Maybe this will help. Today I was going to buy this $30 blender at the pawn shop and I thought About it did to the cash I have in my envelope. I didn't buy the blender but went to HEB grocery store and got a blender for 14-5 dollar coupon which I paid $11. I'm glad I didn't buy the first blender at the first place I went.
These white regular envelopes dollar store are annoying and irritating but I think this is helping me curb my spending.
For my grocery and Uber, I buy a gift card for my Instacart and Uber and put in my app. I think doing this gift card thing for places I overspend will help, I should do gift card for Amazon and google play store Let's see how this goes. Trying to change my bad habits into good ones.
I just started using YNAB and using the free trial. It's kinda confusing. I realize so many transactions are impulse spending and it's frustrating that banks have pending and then wait til last minute to release transaction. This problem is solved with cash envelopes.
