I am not sure what to do to help my parents and I don’t think they understand how bad it is. They are living in a house that is basically condemned. My dad has a small pension and he gets social security. They are taking care of my grandpa who is sick. They have a small amount of money saved. Grandfather gets a small pension and social security. He has very little savings also. I am fearful because I’ve asked them to move and offered to help but they refuse. I visited for the first time since covid and it’s gotten so much worse. I have offered to try to help them maintain if they won’t move, but I’m worried how doing so will affect my own mental health as well as the fact I cannot fix stuff that is literally falling apart. I can only do so much.

Should I hire a company to come in and try to make it more livable? Should I push the issue more of needing to sell the property? It’s on a rather large amount of land in a wealthy community. There is so much shame around this for me as it’s completely run down on the outside as well. I’m worried the city is going to come in and evict them. Can they do that? Has anyone else been in this type of situation? I cannot have them move in with me as we literally have no room and my husband would never okay that anyway.
