I'm 41, I've never been properly taught about finances and as such, I made plenty of stupid mistakes growing up, including marrying someone who was terrible with money. I have no savings and no retirement.
I recently got divorced. I am also finishing up retraining into a job field that is going to potentially double the income (anywhere between 50k to 100k depending on where I get a job.) giving me more money than I have ever made. I have looked to a lot of advice but it is for younger people who have plenty of time to invest and be very well off when they retire or retire early, but not much advice for people who made mistakes or just never had the opportunity to invest or save.
I want to be smart when the money does start to come in. I know more money is more temptation. I want to look towards my future retirement and making sure I am no longer scraping by or living paycheck to paycheck. I want to make sure I can take care of myself even when I can no longer work. So I am asking for help, resources I can read, videos to watch, or ways I can invest and save to make sure I am smart with my money and comfortable in retirement. Or even someone I can turn to for further advice.
Thank You
