My spouse and I are not on the same page when it comes to finances at all. Currently I am the main breadwinner and I'm trying to pay down lots of debt. I have a job that allows for all the overtime I want. However, my spouse feels that I shouldn't work so much and will spend way more than planned on food/vacations without a thought. It's like it is completely unnoticed that if more is spent I have to work more. We have conversations and we'll agree on what we're trying to do- (for example, pay off the car) then when I say, "I'm going to make X payment on the car this week." I will get a confused look and then he'll say, "You already paid the car this month? Anyway, I bought Y." It is beyond frustrating.
Have you ever had to 'trick' your spouse into saving/not spending? How did you get your spouse on the same page as you financially?
