I'm looking at the news around this little biotech company. They just got approved for phase 3 trials of an oral covid anti-viral drug. This means they'll be testing it on people who have contracted covid and have mild to medium symptoms.
It's supposed to greatly reduce the severity of symptoms by killing the virus directly. It should work well for those people who can't get the vaccine for medical or religious reasons. They also claim that it will help protect against variants since the anti-viral directly attacks the core parts of the covid mRNA, instead of creating antibodies that have to attach to the protein spikes which can change much easier than the core mRNA.
I am thinking that if they can pull it off, this drug might be something interesting. But right now AVIR is trading at all time lows. I just don't understand. I think this thing should be going up right now. But it's just been crawling down.
What am I missing here? Anyone else bullish on this stock? Does news just take time to travel and I should be patient or is it that biotech companies are a dime a dozen and I'm a dummy for being bullish? Is the stock being shorted to death?
