Hi,

I’ve worked at the same company for 13 years, and as part of my latest annual review, have been offered a 1% sharehold of the company by the 4 directors, as part of a scheme they’re just finalising now. The offer is open to all the management staff (about 10 of us) but none of the other staff, and is to be kept confidential.

Now, I’ve spoken directly to 3 of the directors and they have all said that I don’t have to decide now, and that I can decline if I wish etc... however, I’m a little confused as to why anyone would decline? Even if the company does poorly from now on... surely it’s better than nothing?

Can anyone explain to me the negatives of becoming a shareholder in this company? Even if it is only 1%?

Thanks a stack,

Bill
