My son's friend (16) confided in me today as we worked in my yard (I had hired him to help me). He is a smart and rational (self home-schooling) kid, despite his family being absolutely nuts; for example, they believe that they live under a dome, not on a planet.
He is not allowed to make any decisions regarding finances until he is 18 (at which point he is expected to leave the home). I'm concerned that he may have to hand over the cash he earned today. I'd like to hire him again, but want to help him shelter his hard earned money.
Is there anything I can do to help him get his own bank account?
