So I work as a W2 employee for company A.
Last Thursday, Aug, 14th 2020, Company A called me and said I was terminated because my secret clearance investigation came back as "denied". (I was working under an interim clearance)
A couple of hours later they called me again and said: "sorry we made a mistake, your clearance is not denied, but your interim secret clearance is no longer valid because someone manually revoked it, in fact, it was no longer valid since July 14th of 2020". They basically let me worked for a whole month without a clearance, and they did not acknowledge that for a whole month. They played innocent and told me no one really knows the reason for why it was "revoked", I was promised an answer but they have been dodging my question.
I did a bit of research and it appears the date that my interim secret went "revoked" was exactly 1 year after it was issued. I'm guessing they forgot to file the paperwork to keep it active before the expiration date.
On top of it all, the actual co-workers and bosses that I work with are upset because the company I work for told them I resigned, which I did not do.
Can I try to claim unemployment? They tried to talk to me into not filing for unemployment.
Or is there anything else I can do about this?
Thanks in advance,
