I'm a freelancer living in the California and I have significantly reduced work hours due to COVID-19. I'm trying to use my free time by improving my skills and certifications so that I can have a better chance of getting a job. It might be important to mention that I'm currently on UI. I already have an undergraduate degree and I'm not currently enrolled at a university.
The costs of some of the training I need is a bit more than what I can handle in these circumstances. Are there any grants that I can get from either the government, universities, or otherwise, that can pay for my training? Anything would help, but ideally I need around $2000-5000.
I'm mainly looking for money that I can spend at my own discretion, not just at universities. For example, I would like to purchase any online course of my choice, certifications, books, or even university courses.
I would appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction.
